In this interview, Mr. Young discusses his experiences in the retail grocery business from 1917 until 1963. Topics include: his work with the Eastern Retailer-Owned Grocers from 1938 until 1963; changes in methods of food distribution, warehousing, and determination of quality; the development of chain stores and field buyers; a comparison of New York State food processors to their counterparts in other states; and his observations of the National Canners Association and the New York State Canners and Freezers Association.
